Opel has announced a lower entry point for its Astra range in Germany through a new Start trim. In its October 13 statement, the manufacturer lists the five-door Astra Hybrid from €31,890, including German VAT.
The Sports Tourer starts at €33,390. Opel says both entry prices are €1,500 below the previous starting points. The Astra Electric starts at €36,490, a reduction of €1,900. These are German recommended retail prices, not global prices or confirmed individual dealer quotations.
What the entry trim includes
Opel lists automatic climate control, front and rear parking sensors, keyless starting and two 10-inch displays among the standard features. Denim Blue metallic paint and its Intelli-Seats are also included.
The €31,890 hybrid has a 107 kW system output and a six-speed electrified dual-clutch transmission. Diesel and battery-electric Start versions are also offered. The company lists a separate optional Comfort Pack, so buyers should check the final specification rather than assume every pictured feature is standard.
Compare a complete quotation
For a household deciding between trims, the useful comparison is the amount payable for the car it actually wants. Ask for two itemised quotations with the same body style, powertrain, colour and required equipment. Record delivery charges and any other compulsory costs separately from optional extras.
If finance is involved, compare the deposit, total amount payable and final payment as well as the monthly figure. A lower advertised starting price does not by itself answer which quotation suits a particular budget.
Do the same exercise for running costs. Enter your expected distance and local energy prices, rather than assuming the cheapest version to buy will also be cheapest to use. Our annual fuel-cost worksheet provides a starting point for combustion-powered choices.
What this means outside Germany
Readers in other markets should obtain their own local price list and equipment specification. Converting the German figure into another currency is not a substitute for a local offer, particularly where taxes and trim combinations differ.
This is a production-range pricing announcement, separate from Opel’s STX electric-estate concept. Passion4Drive has not driven the Start trim or independently assessed its seats, efficiency or value against competing cars. The practical next step is a matched specification comparison and, where possible, a test drive of the version under consideration.
