Stellantis has launched Car Concepts with Ralph Gilles, a weekly video podcast about automotive design and the people behind it. Its October 29 announcement outlines a first season of nine episodes of approximately 30 minutes, with new instalments planned on Thursdays.
The series is hosted by the company’s chief design officer and recorded at its Conner Avenue Assembly Plant in Detroit. Announced guests include Bob Lutz, Cristy Lee, Garrett Reed, Gilles Vidal and Scott Krugger.
Where the company says it will appear
Stellantis lists full-video episodes on its North America YouTube channel and audio distribution through services including Spotify and Apple Podcasts. Readers can use the official announcement to locate the series; availability and episode listings should be checked on the chosen platform.
What this format can add
A conversation about design can help explain why a team explored a shape, material or packaging idea. Those accounts are valuable as the participants’ perspectives. They should still be distinguished from independently established facts about how a vehicle performs or how customers use it.
This is a manufacturer-backed production. That context does not make every statement unreliable, but it makes the source of the editorial choices relevant. A guest’s recollection and a published specification answer different questions.
Useful questions to bring to an episode
Listen for the constraints behind a decision: what problem was the team trying to solve, what alternatives were considered and which compromises remained? A clear example is more informative than a broad claim that a design is innovative.
When a future vehicle or concept is discussed, separate an idea from a confirmed production commitment. Our Opel STX Concept report makes that distinction for an estate-design study within the wider Stellantis group.
